WASTEWATER DESIGN

Poinsettia Sewage Lift Station in Carlsbad

This project involved the design of a new pump station with an initial capacity of 850 gpm and an ultimate design capacity of 1,700 gpm. Planning and pre-design studies as well as final engineering drawings and specifications were prepared by Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc.

Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. also provided as-needed engineering services pertaining to the bidding and construction phase of the Poinsettia Sewage Lift Station project.  These tasks included responding to questions and/or clarifications during bidding; review of submittals; responding to requests for information from the Contractor; attending pre-construction meetings; attending project progress meetings as required; performing site visits as required; assisting in observing operational test for the facility; and completing as-built drawings.

Buena Vista Pump Station Upgrade

Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. provided design and engineering services, assistance during bidding and served as construction manager during the construction.  This project consisted of providing plans and specifications for replacement of four pumps, and replacing all electrical and controls for a capacity of 21 million gallons per day.  Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. provided design and engineering services and assistance during bidding and was involved with the construction.

City of San Diego Pump Station 43

This project, completed in 1993, replaced an old pump station in Mission Bay near Sea World with a new one on the same site.   Due to the park-like setting in which the pump station was located, special architectural considerations were needed so that the pump station would fit into the surrounding area. The project consisted of providing plans and specifications for replacement of four pumps, and replacing all electrical and controls for a capacity of 21 million gallons per day. Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. provided design services and assistance during construction for the project, including inspection services.  The project was completed on schedule and to the satisfaction of the City of San Diego.

Agua Hedionda Pump Station and Force Main

This project was designed in 1985 and constructed in 1986.  The project consisted of the addition of an 8,000 gpm, variable speed pump and 200 feet of 24-inch, ductile iron force main.  Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. provided design services and assistance during construction for the project, including inspection services.  The project was completed on schedule and to the satisfaction of the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility.

Raceway Basin Pump Station and Force Main

This project was designed in 1987 and constructed in 1988.  It consisted of a 600/1,200 gpm, two-speed, self-priming pump station with on-site provisions for emergency power.  The eight-inch force main was 1,000 feet long with provisions to connect to the existing Buena Force Main.  Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. produced the design and provided assistance during construction.

Buena Vista Interceptor Phase II

This project involved the design and inspection of 7,000 feet of 36-inch ductile iron sewer interceptor and 3,000 feet of 42-inch ductile iron interceptor.

Sierra del Oro Sewage Pump Station

This project involved the design of a sewage lift station for the Sierra del Oro project.  The design included odor control and emergency power generation. The capacity of the pump station was 1,250 gallons per day.

Offsite Improvement Plans for TSM-302, San Marcos

This project consisted of 6,900 feet of sewer line ranging in size from 15-inch to 42-inch.  The design flows for this pipeline on the downstream end were 25 million gallons per day and on the upstream reaches they were approximately 3 million gallons per day.  Dexter Wilson Engineering, Inc. performed the design services for this project and was involved in bidding assistance as well as construction administration.

Questhaven Lift Station

Prepared design plans and technical specifications for a regional lift station in the City of San Marcos.  The station was designed for an ultimate capacity of 1,950 gpm, but was designed to operate in interim conditions where the influent flow rates are much lower.  This was accomplished by recommending dual force mains with one operating in the interim condition and both operating in the ultimate condition. The wet well was also segmented to minimize the sewage retention times in the interim condition.  The station includes a standby diesel generator, odor control system, and radio telemetry system.

Sycamore Creek Lift Station

Prepared design plans and technical specifications for a sewer lift station to serve the Sycamore Creek subdivision in Riverside County.  The station has a design capacity of 1,200 gpm and includes an emergency overflow storage basin, standby generator, odor control system and radio telemetry system.  Dexter Wilson Engineering also prepared the design plans for the 10-inch sewer force main from the lift station site to the discharge manhole. The force main was constructed in Temescal Canyon Road where there are numerous existing utilities.
